Garden of Grandeur

Accentuate Your Garden with a Stylish Log Cabin

If you have spent time and money on redesigning your garden area and as pleased as you are with the results, still feel there is something missing, a log cabin could be the answer. The perfect place to sit and admire your fine new garden, log cabins make the perfect addition to your exterior space.

Aside from the obvious aesthetic advantages of adding log cabins to your garden, they can also serve a practical function; for example, they can double up as tool shed or home office and can even be converted into your very own outdoor steam room. More importantly, the kids will just love it.

Indeed, this could be the perfect summerhouse for youngsters, who might make an adventure of the structure by moving in for the weekend. That way your kids can learn some of the benefits of the great outdoors and become adept in the ways of campsite survival without your having to worry about what would happen should there be any sudden, unexpected accidents.

However, your new addition to the garden shouldn’t be monopolised by the kids, as this could turn out to be the perfect retreat for yourself should you be in need of a little peace and quiet. Indeed, log cabins have a strange but welcoming capacity for relieving tension. Maybe it is, as they say, ‘all in the mind’, but there is something about settling back in your special cabin that brings about an immediate feeling of peace and tranquillity.

Nonetheless, you may need to choose carefully when purchasing your log cabins, because while in general they make particularly sturdy constructions, some are, of course, built much better than others. Naturally the quality of wood used within the construction will make all the difference. Unfortunately, the better the quality of wood, the higher the price you will have to pay. However, in the long term this will be money well spent as good quality, well made log cabins can effectively last for years.

Another point to look out for is whether they have been put together with nails. While the use of nails may play a part in their construction, log cabins that have been put together with nails alone are likely to be far less sturdy. Ideally, a combination of nails, notches and high-strength screws should be used within the construction. Again, this may raise the price of the product a little, but purchasing a durable, well-built version is undoubtedly worth the extra outlay.
